FAQ

iCloud backup is not available for Hit Log. iCloud backup is automatic for version 4.0 and later of HIT Log Pro if you are logged into your iCloud account and iCloud Drive is enabled. If you don't want iCloud backup for some reason, you can disable it in the iCloud section of the Settings app on your device.

You can change the listing order, but they are listed in alphabetical order by default, upper-case before lower-case. Press the "Edit" button and move them using the symbols on the right side of each table cell.

It depends. The main exercise page and the performance page use the same exercise names, so if you want to see the graph of your performance over time, you will need to keep that name on the main page. However, the workout history page keeps a record of your workouts, and even if you delete an exercise, it will still be included here.

Yes. Enter the weight in the weight field and select lbs. or kg., then put either a nominal value in the "Time Under Load" field (1, for example) or your previous time, if you know it. Returning to the main page will then store the weight value (and whatever time you entered). You should then delete the workout that will show on the workout page (especially if you entered a nominal value), so it doesn't skew your statistics on the performance graph.

Yes. If your gym uses a mixture of weights, you can set the units on a per exercise basis. One thing to be aware of is that mixing kg and lbs will change the default alphabetical listing of the exercises, but you can always move them to any order you choose. Version 4.0 and later allows for a single decimal point in setting the weight values. This is most often used with kilogram weight stacks.

Yes. Either stop the timer before it beeps, or enter zero in the "Time Under Load" field (or clear the field) before returning to the main page, and your previous record will not be changed.

No. Pressing "Stop" will stop the timer. You will neeed to return to the previous screen to start the timer again.

Only HIT Log Pro will record the total time of your workout session, defined as the starting when the timer passes 0 on your first exercise and stopping when you press the "Stop" button on your final exercise. It will also calculate the average rest period between exercises. These times will be displayed for each workout in the notes section under the "Workout History" tab.

In the standard "Settings" app on the iPhone. Open "Settings" and scroll down to HIT Log Pro. From there you can enable or disable the one-second cadence beep (it's disabled by default), and enter a number of seconds between interval beeps (10 seconds is the default). If you would rather not here this beep, set the number of seconds to a number greater than your expected TUL.

Strictly speaking, a calculation of energy would require knowing the distance the weight moved during the set. An assumption is made about the speed the weight is moving and that the speed is constant, so that the distance is proportional to the time under load. Energy expended then becomes weight (adjusted for lbs. or kg) multiplied by the acceleration due to gravity multiplied by distance. You can think of it as the product of weight and time under load multiplied by a constant, which should give a good measure of performance improvement over time.
