This
is the support page for InStock Now. Most
application problems can be solved by either restarting the device
or reloading the application from the app store. If neither of these resolves your problem,
and it is not addressed in this FAQ, then please email support
I downloaded the app and the app store says it's installed, but I can't find the icon.
This is not an app problem, and sometimes happens with certain devices. Power down your device and then power it back up. The app icon should now be visible.
Which mobile devices are supported?
The app is available for Android devices running version 5.0 or later and the iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, running iOS 14.1 or later.
How many items are in the included database?
There are over 3000 items pre-loaded in inStock Now. if you scan an item that isn't in the database, you will be prompted to add it.
Can I import additional items into the database instead of entering them manually?
Yes. You can import a comma delimited (.csv extension) file of items by selecting "Import Database" from the Settings menu on the opening page of an iOS device or, with the app in the background, by touching on the file on your device, then selecting InStock Now as the application to open it (this is the only method available for the Android version). The format of the file must be "UPC Code, Name, Category, Department"". The UPC code and name are required. The other fields are optional and may not be meaningful for your establishment. Make sure that any software you use to handle or create the database treats the UPC code as text and not a number. Spreadsheets, in particular, will strip leading zeros from the UPC code if they think it is a number. You can enclose the UPC code in double quotes to indicate that it should be treated as text, if required, and InStock Now will still import the file successfully. InStock Now exports a database file called UPC_database.csv that is of the correct format if you want to share the same database between different devices.
Won't importing the database from another device create duplicate entries in the database?
No. The import process only adds unique items into the database even if there are duplicate items in the imported file.
Can the app scan vertical bar codes?
Yes. You can scan either vertical or horizontal bar codes. There is no need to rotate the product.
How do I access the inventory when I've finished.?
From the main page, touch the settings icon (gear wheel) on the top navigation bar, then select "Export Inventory". You will be prompted to select the date of the inventory you wan to use, followed by where you'd like to send it. The exported file is a comma delimited file that can be read by a spreadsheet or other analysis software.
